This article comments the content of a recent world energy assessment made by Enerdata which reveals an alarming situation for the main consumer countries. If economic growth is back, a global increase of energy consumption is noticed with an always greater share for fossil energies and poor results regarding energy efficiency. Despite a strong progression of renewable electric power production, CO2 emissions have been increasing in 2017
