Improvement of emissions in urban environment by relocating plants and substituting fuels with natural gas

Description

This article is about exploration of possibilities to improve emissions in the urban environment by relocating plants and substituting fuel with natural gas. Air quality is one of the conditions that affect both human health also extend to natural ecosystems, changes in weather and climate. Hence arose the need for analysis content of pollutants in the ambient air, and it is developed and elaborated for the territory of R. Macedonia. Reviewed possibilities for usage of fuels in thermal power plants and analysis the fuels consumption in the country. Given the rapid growth of the industry and the growing need for energy this article also analyzed possibilities of using alternative fuels and renewable energy sources as a proposed solutions for reducing emissions. The need to protect the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including the import dependence of Macedonia for energy, inevitably imposes adoption of measures and implement actions to increase energy efficiency in final consumption. This article review the potentials for saving in public facilities owned by municipalities Butel and Chair with application of EE measures, while presenting the benefits of their application. Analyzing the possibilities to reduce the level of emissions by improving the efficiency of district heating systems through their rehabilitation and modernization, as well as opportunities for the rational use of thermal energy. Review in this article is part of the downtown area and thus is made a comparative analysis of the operation of a plant (which is mainly supplying the area with heat), regarding the type of fuel and consequent emissions. Also consider the possibility and benefits of the use of natural gas as an alternative fuel to meet the needs of households. It was prepared analysis and presented the benefit of replacing the electrical and thermal energy (district heating system) with the use of natural gas. It was prepared three scenarios in terms of the percentage use of natural gas in the facilities of examined area, while for each scenario was examined the effects of the use of natural gas summarized with using EE measures and efficient use of the heat generated from the heating system - in energy terms as well as the financial and environmental.
