Land surface temperature parameters and fire hazard potential considerations in NPP site candidate selection, West Kalimantan province

Description

Has been carried out research on the characteristics of surface land temperature (LST = Land Surface Temperature) and the potential for forest fires in the selection of NPP sites in West Kalimantan. Physical environmental data, especially land surface temperature and the potential for forest fires, are part of the environmental aspects, especially regarding the meteorological aspects, and must be identified in the process of selecting the NPP site. The purpose of the study was to map and evaluate the distribution of surface temperatures at the potential nuclear power plant on the coast of West Kalimantan. Methodology includes secondary data collection and interpretation of sea surface temperature data from remote sensing data. Furthermore, further identification of the suitability of the NPP site is carried out. The results of the study obtained a map of the distribution of land surface temperature in 6 (six) potential sites in the coastal areas of West Kalimantan, ranging from 20 to above 30 °C. Land surface temperatures with values above 30 °C have the potential to cause forest fires. These conditions will be considered in the study. However, these conditions become one of the sub-criteria in the selection of selected sites that have been considered in showing that in the area of West Kalimantan Province, especially the PLTN selected site shows that the selected potential site is not located in locations that have the potential for forest fires. However, to ensure a potential coastal area as a nuclear power plant site, further identification is needed to ensure that the location of the site is safe from the potential danger of forest fires etc. and threats.
