Degradation of polystyrene fiber light guide characteristics in the γ-radiation field
Description
In the paper the results of gamma luminescence study are reflecting the luminescent polystyrene fiber degradation directly in the γ-radiation process are cited. Dependence of gamma luminescence maxima intensity from the integral radiation dose is considered. There are four specific sections. The initial section - the section of low radiation doses is characterizing by a small increase of luminescence intensity. This increase is connected with recovery of an optimal concentration relation both initial and secondary dyes - disturbed under the fiber extraction from billet. The rest three sections present straight lines describing the luminescent fiber degradation process in the radiation field. Simultaneously with describing processes the process of optical absorption centers formation is taking place
