Description
In a completely field-theoretic description of nuclei, the Gamow-Teller states are obtained as Nambu-Goldstone bosons of a spontaneously broken SU(4) symmetry. The isobaric analog states are obtained similarly as a result of broken SU(2)-isospin symmetry. Such an approach provides a consistent description of all the collective states in nuclei. ((orig.))
