Hanford radiation study

  • 1. National Radiological Protection Board, Harwell (UK)

Description

A critical note is presented on 'Hanford radiation study III: a cohort study of the cancer risks from radiation to workers at Hanford (1944-77 deaths) by the method of regression models.' G.W. Kneale, T.F. Mancuso, and Alice Stewart. Attention is drawn to important differences between conclusions reached in this and other analyses of the Hanford data, which centre round the evidence for radiation-related effects for particular types of cancer. It is suggested that the most likely explanation for the different conclusions is the use of level of monitoring for internal radiation as a controlling factor in the analysis of Kneale et al. (U.K.)
