Description

The Austrian energy policy aims at promoting a phase-out of nuclear power, the Austrian government pursues a three fold strategy: i) the reduction of potential risks from nuclear installations close to or in the vicinity of Austrian borders, ii) high priority is also given to the co-operation in the energy sector with economies in transition in order to promote a better energy efficiency and environmentally sound technologies, iii) an active role to favour the development of strong and independent regulatory authorities of nuclear activities because nuclear safety is a global concern.
