Description

Preparation of rare earth crystal methylphosphates by adding KOH solution to aqueous solution containing methylphosphonic acid (H2L) and rare earth ions (Ln3+) is described. The compounds prepared have been characterized by the methods of elementary analysis, X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and thermal analysis, their solubility in aqueous and organic solutions being determined. It has been ascertained that composition of the compounds formed depends on the type of Ln3+ ion: LnHL2 (Ln=La-Er, Y) and KLn3H6L8 (Ln=Yb, Lu); Tm forms complexes of both types
