HHF Test with preliminary 80x80x3 Be/Cu/SS Mock-ups with KoHLT-1 for the ITER blanket First Wall Qualification

Description

ITER Blanket First Wall Qualification Mock-ups (FWQMs) and preliminary FWQMs were fabricated to be submitted to the ITER-O and to be tested with high heat flux at the KoHLT-1 (The 1st Korea Heat Load Test facility). The preliminary FWQM 2 and 5 were fabricated with the same batch to the submitted FWQMs (1 and 6). Destructive test with the samples showed the sound joint integrities, in which the shear strengths were over 200 MPa and non-destructive test (NDT) with ultrasonic method indicated no cracks or incomplete joint in the Be/Cu interfaces. Manifolds were welded to the mock-ups to be installed in the KoHLT-1 and holes were drilled in them for measuring the Be temperatures. In order to determine the test conditions, preliminary analysis with ANSYS code were performed and the target heat flux was over 0.625 MW/m2 which is the test condition of the qualification test in EU facility. In the high heat flux test, the preliminary FWQMs 2 and 5 were survived successfully up to 12,690 and 12,020 under the heat fluxes of 0.675 MW/m2 and 0.725 MW/m2, respectively. After test, NDT were performed but there were no cracks in the joint. The test results show that the fabricated mock-ups have a good joint integrity
