Microhardness of amorphous metallic Fe-Cr-B alloys

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev (Ukrainian SSR). Inst. Problem Materialovedeniya

Description

Mechanisms of deformation of amorphous metallic alloys (AMA) Fe85-xCrxB15 (x=0-15 % (at.) are studied within the wide temperature range. Study of the local plastic deformation under the indentor permits determining a number of mechanical characteristics of AMA of the Fe-Cr-B system whose values occupy the intermediate position between metals and covalent crystals. Analysis of the HV(T) relationship in the low-temperature region permits intoducing an idea about metalloid and the effect of concentration and composition of the metal atoms of the alloy on the covalence degree of the interatomic bond, respectively
