On pair-wise character of superfluid condensate in helium-II

Description
Starting from the empirical data on the dynamics of impurity 3He atoms in superfluid 4He that suggest an abnormal high effective mass of 3He, it is proposed that the helium atoms are paired below the λ-point. The role of a paired condensate in 4He superfluidity is discussed. Considered also are the points that some further experimental support for the pairing of 4He atoms and the observation of vortices with a half-integral quantum of velocity circulation are quite possible
