AEA Technology and its nuclear service

Description

The British company AEA Technology (commercial name UKAEA) is concerned with the technological development of and providing services for the nuclear industry. Currently its staff comprises 10 thousand people. In 1989 its turnover was 400 million GBP, which was a result of solution of about 6000 contract-basis tasks. Approximately 75% of its turnover comes from the nuclear industry. The company is engaged, among other things, in the Safe Integral Reactor (SIR) project, is responsible for the British contribution to the European fast reactor development programme, and participates in the nuclear fusion research programme. Its laboratory in Culham is the centre of the Joint European Torus (JET) project. (Z.M.). 10 figs., 1 ref
