Hydrology and chemistry of Hosokura tuff in Japan
- 1. Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corp., Tokyo (Japan)
- 2. Mitsubishi Metal Corp., Tokyo (Japan)
Description
Various kinds of in situ tests were conducted on Hosokura tuff in Japan. Results of hydrological and chemical tests are presented in this paper. Permeability tests were carried out on rock mass of 3 m diameter and 4 m length, and the value of 1.2 ·10-12 m/s was obtained. In the in situ migration test, water containing four stable elements, i.e., Co, Sr, Cs, and I, was pumped down into an injection hole, and retardation factors obtained were 70, 70, and 110 for Co, Sr, and Cs, respectively
