Acoustic diagnostics of plasma channels in air induced by intense femtosecond laser pulses

Description

Long plasma channels can be formed when intense femtosecond laser pulses propagate in air. In contrast to other conventional diagnostic techniques, the acoustic method to probe the plasma channel has its advantages. By measuring the sound signals along the channel, the channel length and the distribution of electron density along it can be retrieved easily. (authors)
