Structural phase transition studies into FeVO4-InVO4 solid solutions

  • 1. Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Koni, Bilaspur-495001 (India)

Description

Solid solutions Fe1-xlnxVO4 (x = 0 - 1.0) were synthesized through the standard solid-state route and studied by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. FeVO4 and InVO4 were found to be in triclinic (P-I space group) and orthorhombic structures (Cmcm space group), respectively. In incorporation into the FeVO4 lattice leads to the emergence of a new phase dissimilar to the both end members of the solid solutions. Upto x=0.4 the dominance of Triclinic phase is more whereas after x=0.6 the dominance of orthorhombic phase can be seen. But in between 0.4-0.6 the occurrence of mixed phase is evident. These structural changes are also proven by Raman Spectroscopy. Other characterization studies are going on for more clearer picture
