Radiation damage and the magnetic domain structure of amorphous GdCo thin films
Description
Electron microscope observations of the effect of ion irradiation on the magnetic domain structure of amorphous thin films of GdCo are described. The results support in principle the previous findings of Gambino et al (Appl. Phys. Letter.; 24:99 (1974)) that uniaxial anisotropy in these materials can be destroyed by displacement damage although it was found in the present work that heavier doses are required than those used by Gambino et al.
