A geometric control and adjustment process for vertical axis hydroelectric generating set shafting systems

Description

A method for controlling and adjusting a shaftline in a hydroelectric set, that is quicker and more compact than previous methods such as plumb line or micrometer level, is proposed. The method involves the dismantling of the shaft bearings, and for each shaft, the shaft center position and its trajectory are determined at several sites; the trajectories envelope is then calculated and allows for the determination of defects and the subsequent adjustments. 7 fig
