Phenol and quinone content in plants with different radiosensitivity

  • 1. Termezskij Gosudarstvennyj Pedagogicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

The quinone content of cotton plants grown under different ecological conditions has been studied. The quinone content of plants grown in mountain regions was higher than that of valley plants. The latter exhibited a large content of quinones under the effect of γ-radiation. Precocious (radioresistant) growths have a higher quinone level than the late ones (radiosensitive). Quinones are suggested to play a certain part in radiosensitivity of plants
