Apart from finishing the shell of the facility for disposal of nuclear materials, (EKR), a significant amount of planning was done for decommissioning and dismantling of the Rossendorf nuclear facility. A series of application documents for approval under the Building Act and Atomic Energy Act were worked out or revised to satisfy the requirements of the licensing authorities. Apart from the main task of 'decommissioning of the nuclear systems', the Landessammelstelle for Radioactive Waste Collection of the Free State of Saxony and the Incorporated Measuring Station performed a variety of disposal and service work on behalf of the Free State of Saxony. The Sealing Inspection Agency for sealed radioactive sources has been built up and prepared for operation. Worth noting is the high quality of the work which the VKTA Rossendorf e.V. has done for all sites to support environmental and fire protection as well as occupational safety and radiation protection. The Department for Analytics, Radiopharmaceuticals and Sanitation which is financed to a great extent from external funds has made a great contribution to the achievements. (orig./DG)
