Blastomogenic activities of various beryllium compounds

  • 1. Ministry of Public Health, Moscow (USSR). Inst. of Biophysics

Description

Experiments with albino mongrel rats have shown that metallic beryllium, beryllium oxides roasted at different temperatures, beryllium fluoride and beryllium chloride induce lung cancer under conditions of single intratracheal, single and chronic inhalation. The results of the authors' experiments agree with published epidemiological data concerning a higher cancer risk among workers subjected to long- and short-term professional exposure to beryllium compounds.
