Preparation of tungsten(4) hydroxide by tungsten(6) reduction by sodium tetrahydroborate in aqueous medium
Description
To develop a convenient method of tungsten (4) hydroxide preparation reactions of Na2WO4 and WO3 with NaBH4 in aqueous solutions with pH 4-7 have been studied. Thermographic, IR spectroscopic, X-ray phase and chemical analyses have shown, that X-ray amorphous, hydrated hydroXide of the composition WO(OH)2x2H2O is formed, which in the process of heating up to 440 deg C in an inert atmosphere split off water without oxidation. A method to prepare tungsten (4) hydroxide with the yield >98% is suggested
