On the effect of heat welding cycle and heat treatment on properties of welded joints of the 12Kh2NVFA steel

Description
Experimental data are given regarding the effect of welding thermal cycle and thermal treatment produced on the 12Kh2NVFA steel welded joint aptitude for brittle destruction. It has been established that the post-annealing tempering temperature produces the main effect on the welded joint resistance to brittle destruction. The resistance of the near-the-seam zone metal to the brittle destruction decreases sharply during the tempering of the welded joints in the 450-600 deg C temperature range. It is proposed that the 12Kh2NVFA steel welded units should be tempered in the 250-320 deg C temperature range or 630-650 deg C range, depending on the basic metal strength
