Zenit-100 low-background noise installation for measuring beta radiation spatial distribution

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description

Low-background scanning installation for investigation of beta radiation distribution at the mass-separator collector is described. A detecting part of the device consists of 100 SI - 19 BG geiger counters, connected in the linear block with 100 cm length. Active and passive shielding decreases the background from external radiations about 6.5 times. Background for one counter is 0.002 s-1. The specific design collector provides spatial resolution of 3.3 mm
