Description

An expansion of a non-Abelian eikonal representation, not in numbers of gluons exchanged between scattering quarks, but in terms of thin, gluonic flux tubes - called flux strings - is suggested as an approach to high-energy scattering. Originating in an application of dimensional transmutation to QCD4, the simplest, one-flux-string exchange generates leading hadronic scattering amplitudes of form T(s,t) = is C ln(s/s0) exp[-B|t|], with constants C and B dependent on the process. Ingredients for a shrinking diffraction peak have not (yet) been included. (author)
