Description
The authors present some results of an inclusive study of intermediate mass fragments produced in the Ne+Ag and Au reactions at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 MeV/u. For the IMF (4≤Z≤15) data: (i) angular distributions are forward peaked in the lab, incomplete fused or C.M. frames. (ii) The invariant cross sections versus β parallel and β perpendicular show two superimposed components, one corresponding to incomplete fusion (IF), dominant at backward angles, and one forward peaked, centered at a velocity roughly corresponding to a Coulomb repulsion between the IMF and the remaining part of the dinuclear system. (iii) This Coulomb velocity decreases as the incident energy increases. (iv) The width of the isotopic distribution increases as the incident energy increases. (v) The N/Z ratio remains constant between those of the target and projectile up to 50 MeV/u where it becomes roughly the same for Ag and Au. (vi) For Ne+Ag the IMF cross section shifts toward lower charges as the energy increases. The quoted findings seem to suggest that the forward peaked component of the IMF cross sections is related to the DIC process
