Synthesis of niobium and tantalum nitridopentahalides with ternary bond between M and N

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Obshchej i Neorganicheskoj Khimii

Description

A new class of compounds with the general formula M31[MNHal5] (M=Nb, Ta; M1=K, Cs, Ph4P, TEBA - triethylbenzylammonium; Hal=Cl, F) is synthesized; ternary bound M≡N is realized there. Methods of synthesis of these complexes are developed. All the prepared compounds are characterized by chemical and chemicophysical methods. Molar electric conductivity (μ) of nitrido-pentafluorides with Cs, Ph4P and TEBA cations measured in acetonitrile and respectively equal to 408, 400, 403 Ohm-1xcm2 x mole-1 testifies to the fact that these complexes are tetraionic electrolytes. An intense narrow absorption band lying in the 1000-1050 cm-1 range in IR spectra of the synthesized compounds refers to the ternary bond M≡N
