  • 1. Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc., Fukuoka (Japan)

Description

Genkai Nuclear Power Station Units Nos. 3 and 4 (PWR 1,180MWe), which are currently under construction, will be put into commercial operation in March, 1994 and July, 1997, respectively. Construction activities at the site have been progressing smoothly since August, 1985. These are the fifth and sixth nuclear power stations established by Kyusyu Electric Power Co., the first four being Genkai Units Nos. 1 and 2 (PWR 559MWe) ans Sendai Units Nos. 1 and 2 (PWR 890MWe). In constructing Units Nos. 3 and 4, we relied on the design, construction, and operational experience gained from the four previous power stations (Genkai units Nos. 1 and 2 and Sendai Units Nos. 1 and 2) to ensure they will be stable and reliable. This paper outlines the construction status, design features, and execution of Genkai Units Nos. 3 and 4. (author)
