Dosimetric properties of thermoluminescence of phosphor Li2B4O7:Mn

  • 1. National Atomic Energy Agency, Jakarta (Indonesia). Standardization and Radiation Safety Research Centre

Description

Home made phosphor Li2B4O7:Mn has been produced for the first time and its dosimetric properties have also been studied. This working paper presents the structure of the glow curve, lower dose detection threshold, sensitivity for high energy photon radiation, dose characteristics and fading properties of the material. It is shown that the dose range can be used starting with doses at around 500 mGy to 104 Gy, but supralinearity starts at 20 Gy. Sensitivity of this phosphor is nearly the same as that of Li2B4O7:Mn Harshaw's phosphor, but it has less than factor 629 of LiF TLD-100 Harshaw's phosphor. The home made phosphor is also very satisfactorily applied in medical field, particularly in radiotheraphy. (author). 8 refs
