Radiation monitoring data of the environment around the stone-dumping sites in 1998 (Tottori Prefecture)

Description

Ningyo Toge Works of PNC have made an agreement for environmental protection with Tottori and Okayama Prefectures in respect of the management of the stone-dumping sites in old uranium mines spottedly located in both prefectures. The Works are conducting surveillance measurements for radioactivities in the stone-dumping sites in the old uranium mines and around the Works according to the agreement. This report describes the environmental data, 1998. This has been presented to Tottori Prefecture and evaluated by the congress of radiation specialists. These data demonstrated that the environments around the Works and the mines are kept in normal conditions, presently. The items to measure were the dose rate for gamma-ray, sup 2 sup 3 sup 8 U, sup 2 sup 2 sup 6 Ra and sup 2 sup 2 sup 2 Rn. The measurements were done with spatial dose rate, river water, drinking water, river-bed soil, paddy-field soil, air, rice, vegetables and fruits. (J.P.N.)
