Description
The present work reports the chemical pretreatment of simulated evaporator solution with calcium compound to prepare leach resistant insoluble boron compound. The compounds of calcium borate were prepared by chemical reaction of simulated solution of evaporator concentrate with calcium chloride solution and calcium hydroxide under controlled temperature and time. Insoluble compound of composition Ca B6 O10.4 H2O was obtained from simulated solution of evaporator concentrate by chemical reaction with calcium chloride solution. Other insoluble compounds of compositions Ca B2 O4.6H2O/CaB4/Ca B4 O9.H2O/Ca[B(OH)4]2.2H2O and Na Ca B5 O6(OH)6.5H2O/Ca2 B6 O11.13H2O have been prepared from simulated solution of evaporator concentrate with calcium hydroxide under controlled conditions of temperature and time. A preliminary process flowsheet for immobilization of insoluble compound Na Ca B5 O9.8H2O in bitumen V65 has been investigated and the results of rheological properties and leaching tests of the waste product are presented.
