Description
Electrical heaters simulating the VHTR fuel rods were fabricated to use in the High Temperature Fuel Test Section. The heat transfer surfaces of these heaters are made of graphite. These heaters were tested in the condition of 10000C and 40 bar helium gas flow and the maximum heat rate of 300 W/cm was obtained. The measured heat transfer coefficients were in good agreement with the established experimental correlations. (author)
