Superhigh-power klystrons

  • 1. Toshiba Corp., Kawasaki, Kanagawa (Japan)

Description

Microwaves have so far been used widely in the field of communication, broadcasting and radars, and now plans requiring large-scale microwave power are proposed. For fulfiling the requirement, the development of superhigh-power microwave tubes is hurried up. Backed by such a situation, Toshiba has developed a superpower klystrons rated 915-MHz, 1-MW. Superhigh-power klystrons are made very large, not only in output but also in length and weight, i.e., measure about 3m and weigh about 1 t. In addition to design techniques, comprehensive techniques regarding trial manufacture and evaluation have also been required to cooperate for the development. (author)
