Accelerator based epithermal neutron source for neutron capture therapy

Description
Calculating data on the investigation into choice of optimum material and sizes of moderator for the formation of epithermal neutrons for the boron neutron capture therapy on the basis of proton accelerator and the 7Be(p, n)7Be reaction as neutron source are given. It is demonstrated that magnesium fluoride possess the best characteristics. Optimal configuration of combined moderator from magnesium fluoride and tertafluropolyethylene is suggested. Results of calculation is compared with the experiment

Приведены расчетные исследования по выбору оптимального материала и размеров замедлителя для формирования пучка эпитепловых нейтронов для борнейтронозахватной терапии на основе протонного ускорителя и реакции 7Be(p, n)7Be в качестве источника нейтронов. Показано, что наилучшими характеристиками обладает фторид магния. Предложена оптимальная конфигурация комбинированного замедлителя из фторида магния и тетрафторполиэтилена.
