Motional effects in poly(vinyl alcohol) chains by analysis of temperature-dependent alkyl radical electron spin resonance spectra
Description
Temperature-dependent electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra of the -CH2-C(OH)-CH2- radical in #betta#-irradiated poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) powder at 9.2 GHz have been measured between 298 and 385 K. The spectral changes have been successfully simulated by the modified Bloch equations using a two-jump model with interconversion between two #betta# hyperfine splittings, presumably associated with a torsional motion of chain segments. 2 figures
