The Munich-model as external quality-control education programme

  • 1. Laboratories for Clinical Chemistry and Endocrinology, Medizinische Klinik Innenstadt, Munich, F.R. Germany

Description

Most external quality control schemes (EQCS) are able to show the participant his performance in terms of bias, but are unable to analyse methodological errors. The Munich Model of EQCS has its strong point in being able to pin-point the weak points of an assay, but is at the same time restricted to one or two hormones in any one survey. Since 1974, EQCS for TSH, Insulin, T3+T4, hGH, Cortisol and Gastrin have been carried out. The EQCS for TSH, T3+T4 have been repeated after an interval of 2 years. This report uses the results of the cortisol and second TSH surveys as examples. (Auth.)
