Description

Nuclear quadrupole interactions as measured by time differential perturbed angular correlation on 99Tc have been used to characterize molybdenum sulfides and an Al203-supported Mo catalyst. The technique proved successful for the detection of anion vacancies and hydrogen uptake in highly disperse unsupported MoS2. The results obtained for the supported catalysts suggest the presence of non-stoichiometric MoS2- like species with a high density of anion vacancies and presumably containing appreciable amounts of hydrogen.
