Description
A neutron Position Sensitive Detector (PSD) is typically one meter long cylindrical gas filled detector with a high resistive anode wire along its axis. Based on the position where a neutron event is detected inside a PSD a charge cloud detected on the anode wire gets divided and propagates to the two ends of the detector. The amplifiers at the two ends of the detector produce voltage A and B in proportional to the charge they have received. The Position Encoding Electronics (PEE) gives digital code of ratio of A/(A+B) which signifies the position inside the PSD where a neutron was detected. We describe here briefly about the design and test result of PEE for a PSD
