Detection of pulsar proper motion
Creators
- 1. Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Massachusetts, Amherst
Description
Proper motion has been detected for PSR 1133+16 by means of pulse arrival-time observations made over a 4-year period. The observed value of = 0.58 + 0'.'22 implies a transverse pulsar velocity of 380 km 1 for an assumed distance of 130pc. Subject headings: proper-motion stars - pulsars
