IEA: 30 new reactors might be built per year till 2050

Creators

Description

The IEA report on 'the perspectives of the 2010 energy technologies for 2050' was presented in July 2010. In this report different scenarios are considered. The blue map scenario is based on the reduction by a factor 2 of the worldwide CO2 releases in 2050 compared to 2005 emissions. This scenario implies a drop by 27% of the world demand for oil compared to 2007 demand, but despite that, the demand in primary energy from fossil fuels will be as high as 46% in 2050. The blue-map scenario implies that the contribution of renewable energies in the production of electricity will soar. As for energy power, the rate of growth would be of 30 new reactors per year till 2050. (A.C.)
