Description
Experimental proton ionization cross section values pertaining to all elements from Ca to Sn at various incident energies in the range 0.2-2 MeV are fitted to an empirical law in an attempt to obtain a set of 'most reliable' values to be used in PIXE analysis and in comparisons with theory. A theoretical justification based on the results of the PWBA and BEA models is given. Results are presented in a table for various incident energies and a method of interpolation to obtain values at energies intermediate to those tabulated is suggested. (Auth.)
