Reactor
Description
Object: To eliminate wasteful absorption of neutrons by the control rod by increasing the average power density of the core. Structure: The inter-grid interval of the fuel assembly especially of hwlwr type reactors is reduced in the central portion of the reactor to thereby reduce the effective multiplication factor, while at the same time it is increased in the edge portion of the reactor to increase the effective multiplication factor. In this way, the power distribution is flattened. (Aizawa, K.)
