The significance of corrosion products in water reactor coolant circuits

  • 1. UKAEA Atomic Energy Establishment, Winfrith

Description

The potential effects of the transfer of corrosion products from constructional alloys to reactor coolants, and counter measures in use or currently under development are considered. The sources of the corrosion products in water reactors, their generation, and transport, are discussed. The effects of corrosion products on fuel surfaces are examined, and methods for reducing corrosion product formation are outlined for BWRs and PWRs. (U.K.)
