Description

Objective: To study the clinical significance of changes of plasma ET and serum adiponectin levels in type 2 diabetics with nephropathy. Methods: Plasma ET and serum adiponectin levels were determined with RIA in 32 patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy and 35 controls. Results: In the patients the plasma ET levels were significantly higher and serum adiponectin levels were significantly lower than those in controls (P<0.01). Levels of ET and adiponectin were matually negatively correlated (r=-0.4312, P<0.05). Conclusion: Determination of plasma ET and serum adiponectin levels might be of use in the early diagnosis of type 2 diabetic nephropathy. (authors)
