Description

The question whether a nucleon changes its size when bound inside a nucleus has received increasing attention during the last few years. An increase of the radius of the nucleon would give an apparently simple explanation not only for the EMC effect, but also would be welcome in quasi-electric electron scattering in connection with the missing longitudinal strength. In the field of Kaon scattering, the ratio of K+ - 12C to K+-d seems to favor a swollen nucleon as well. Obviously, as soon as the authors trust ourselves to quark models of the nucleon, the radius of the nucleon in principle becomes a dynamic quantity subject to changes in a medium. In order to estimate the magnitude of such changes, a simple model of the nucleon charge form factor is presented in the first half of this paper. In the second half, the authors concentrate on the problems of quasi-elastic electron scattering
