Equal-Estro, a dosimetry laboratory that follows the tendency of modernization in radiotherapy

The thermoluminescent dosimetry method by post used by the Equal-Estro laboratory in the audit of the radiotherapy systems is evaluated continuously in the framework of an assurance quality programme included intercomparisons made at the national and international level. The tests of dose distribution with films are a good tool to check the quality of the treatment plan on the devices using the I.M.R.T. technique. This kind of control is already available as service by Equal-Estro. Tests concerning the dose delivered via mini beams or photons beams will be soon proposed to the interested centers. The most important part of the quality assurance in radiotherapy is to avoid differences between the prescribed dose and the dose given by the system of treatment, reducing then the risks of accident in radiotherapy.
