Microcomputer Based Gamma Radiation Counting System Using Scintillation Detector

  • 1. Centre for Nuclear Technology Material and Radiometry, National Nuclear Energy Agency, Bandung (Indonesia)

Description

Have been made Microcomputer Based Gamma Radiation Counting System by using Scintillation Detector. This system is operated by a computer program to simplify the system and to make it user friendly in data processing dan archiving. System consists of a detector with the preamplifier outside the computer; amplifier, pulse height analyzer, counter, timer and high voltage module are all assembled inside the computer. To operate the counting system, a program has been made using Visual Basic. The counting system has the facility to count radiation intensity in integral mode or in normal mode which able to choose specific energy from the source that counted by window width around 30 percents above the chosen low level discriminator. From the tests that has been done, this radiation counting system is well enough to be used. (author)
