Physicochemical properties of mixed potassium, rubidium and cesium dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate halides

  • 1. Moskovskij Inst. Tonkoj Khimicheskoj Tekhnologii (USSR)

Description

Mixed salts having the composition M2B12H12.MX, where M+=K+, Rb+, or Cs+ and X-=Cl-, Br-, or I-, have been investigated by infrared spectroscopic, thermogravimetric, and X-ray diffraction methods. Doublet splitting of the absorption bands associated with the B-H stretches and the B12 skeletal deformations occurs. The thermo-oxidative degradation of the mixed salts begins in the range 510-5700C. The space group and the unit cell parameters have been determined and the refractive indices, pyknometric densities, and solubilities of the mixed salts in water at 250C are quoted
