Study and use of the ion beams formed in the Focus experiment
Description
Studies were performed in the 200 kJ Actime installation using CD2 or LiD targets and permitted one to determine the characteristics of the ion beam which bombards the target. The measurement of the temperature attained by metal targets bombarded by deuterons is discussed. The use of a digital program permits one to calculate the amount of energy deposited. Finally, the improvements being considered and the future prospects offered by this type of experiment are discussed
