Base materials property study of NiCrFe alloy 718 (LWBR development program)
Description
NiCrFe Alloy 718, in sheet, bar, and wire form was evaluated in the as-received, as-received and aged, single-braze and aged, and double-braze and aged conditions. Specific tasks included tensile testing (RT and 6000F), hardness (R15N and microhardness), metallographic examination (photography, grain size, and microcleanliness), dimensional stability, and examination for exaggerated grain growth during brazing. In addition, an evaluation of strain-rate and specimen-size effects on tensile properties was performed on material supplied in the various heat-treated conditions. (U.S.)
