Radiation pressure acceleration: perspectives and limits

  • 1. National Institute of Optics, National Research Council (CNR/INO), Adriano Gozzini laboratory, via G. Moruzzi, 56124 Pisa (Italy)
  • 2. Enrico Fermi department of Physics, University of Pisa, largo Bruno Pontecorvo 3, 56127 Pisa (Italy)

Description

A very concise note on the ''light sail'', radiation-pressure driven approach to ion acceleration by intense laser pulses is given. Remarks on the role of the laser polarization, on the ''dominance'' of the radiation pressure action and on the key role of target transparency are made.
